The game is, obviously, not canon to the Mortal Kombat series. One of the most important aspects of fighting games has got to be balance. Aside from the origins of the new characters and an interesting chapter on a civil war in the Outworld, there is very little to gain from completing the mode other than unlocking Shinnok's character.
